For those who are still wondering, I live between New Plymouth and Hawera in the North Island. The earthquake was about 30k outside of Christchurch in the South Island. I had to hear about it on the telly after I got out of bed!

I have several "Kiwi" friends that I've met online and most of them have told me, as you have, that they also live on the North Island so they are ok too.
