I need some gardening help

*I posted this on my photo blog last week, but thought I might get a bit more help here*


I have been gardening a lot these past few days and it's quite obvious that no one has done much in this garden in a long time. Even though it's hard work, I'm enjoying it immensely! 

I found these pods of some sort on top of the ground beneath the cherry trees. I have no idea what sort of seeds they contain. Can any of you great readers/gardeners help me identify them?

    Hmmmm I don´t know this seeds. Maybe you sow this next spring and see what will grow.

    It must be a New Zealand seed pod? I've never seen it before, and like Gusta said, put it in a pot to see what happens in the Spring. Good luck!

    I don't know Betty, maybe they are bulbs.( They look like Gladiolus bulbs) I don't know if they grow in your country! look on internet. Groetjes,

    These are likely not seeds. These are bulbs that some critter pulled out of the ground. One appears empty from the picture you took. It reminds me of either crocosmia or freesia bulbs. Did you grow any last year? Are any of these full/hard? If yes, plant back in a bed or a pot. Protect with small holes wire net so that critters can get to it.

    I am pretty sure that it looks more like a corm than a seed. Also could be crocus. Google pictures for corms as: circus and crocosmia and you will see the resemblance.

    I agree they are the fibrous remains of bulbs, if you break them open there should be no seeds at all. I saw one of these last week in my garden.

    Well, I just read the comments because I had no idea either. I have had bulbs and corms take on a similar apppearance.
