Manaia Redoubt
This is a concrete 1912 replica of the original wooden tower built on the redoubt (fort)
It is interesting to see the door to the white blockhouse was placed in a corner. I wonder why! It must have something to do with the security of the defenders of the fort. Off to Wikipedia and maybe find a rationale.
Hello Betty, I don't know if you remember me or not, but I'm Anita. My neglected, but still beloved blog is Just Curious, where you'd sometimes visit. For a couple years now, I've developed another obsession and created another blog that promotes books; however, my longing to read blogs has come back. It is so peaceful to read about the ordinary lives of bloggers like you and to see the beautiful photos. PS. I'm still in awe of your love story! :)
Quite a structure and nice to see this space looking like it did back in the day.
ReplyDeleteSome interesting history about that, I've added that blog to my links, some of my ancestors were the first settlers to New Plymouth.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.
