Flock House, NZ

 These photos were taken in 2015.




Flock House, near Bulls, in the Manawatu, was founded in 1924.

It was first used to accommodate and train the sons of British Naval personnel who died during World War I.

The property (as I understand it) has been 'returned' to the Maori people and sits along with many other properties dotting the countryside--mostly schools that have closed-- that are returned and sit derelict.

    So sorry to see the state this once proud site has now fallen into... there are many men I know who proudly say they learnt a lot of their farming skills there. What a loss

    There must be a history as to why some of those buildings returned are left as they stand. You get the feeling sometimes that it isn't just can't be bothered.

    Hubby and I (sadly both Germans) got married in Perth, Australia, and it was a different one that I witnessed with friends/Bro marrying.

    Yes, you have some history, too, in NZ...
