I think it's lovely! It's nice to do something different from all the masses, too.
That is a very good use for a fine tree. I have a ficus also...maybe next year!
This is what we had growing up - Mum's faithful ficus bending under the weight of ornaments.Mum, my sister and I all suffer from allergies and pine trees are the worst! Ficus = practical and healthy! Score!
Simple is the way to go, my kids aged 3&5 helped put our tree up so you can imagine what it looks like!!
