3-D is not dead!!

We got a really cool blast from the past this week with the delivery of the Taranaki newspaper. It contained two pairs of 3-D glasses!

After trying to explain to the kiddos that 'way back when' some movies used to be in 3-D and you needed the 'special' glasses to see it properly, and after all the eye rolling and sideways glances, they dove into the paper and found it to be quite novel.

Being the cool kids they are, Missy and Otterboy agreed to pose for me in as 50's fashion as they could muster. (Hay, my mom told me about them! That's the only reason I know that! Yeah, right)

Great photo! They definitely look like they're posed for an ad from the past :) I was surprised to see how 3D is making a come-back in theatres too, and so much better than I remember it ever being! We've seen a couple movies now - Journey to the Center of the Earth and G-Force - in digital 3D, and wow! I was amazed. And it had the kids jumping up out of the seats trying to catch things that floated out of the screen at us. I haven't tried any of these new movies on DVD at home, not sure if it would be the same, but I was never impressed with old tech 3D. This new stuff is worth the price of the movie ticket and popcorn.

I remember watching 3 Ds in the 80s. We had the same glasses as yours. It was a mexican movie, and the yo-yo kept coming towards you.

My daughter recently watched a 3 D movie. the glasses are different.

My brother can't see 3D so we never went to a lot of 3D movies growing up. It drives him nuts how many movies are coming out in 3D now because his kids always want to see them.

Great photo! The funny thing is that when you buy DVDs these days, more and more include a short 3D film - glasses included.

Cute Picture -- and whatever era they're from they look like they're having a wonderful time.

I had no idea that DVDs ever came in 3D. Might have to get one of those and share with our grandkids.
