a covid tale

On Friday, the first of July, Hubby came home early because he had tested positive for covid, much to our surprise.  It was especially shocking since, for weeks and weeks, he talked about co-workers having it  and being out of work , but he never seemed to be exposed. In hindsight, it all became clear.

Hubby is a member of Toastmasters in the nearest town. But the farther we moved from 'town' the less frequently he attended meetings and saw his friends, so last Tuesday the 28th, he made a point to go to a special meeting for some fun and socializing. It seems that the meeting included balloons that the each member had to pop--but you couldn't pop it the same way anybody else did, so, Hubby tore his open with his teeth!! (That did not surprise me at all but I'm sure he got some shocked expressions!)

It seems that the one who blew up the balloons had no idea they had covid and, pretty much, gave it to all the other members in little balls of breath.

Fortunately, we both have pretty much gotten over it during the week that we are suppose to self-isolate.  But, I can only imagine how the balloon-blower-upper feels.

Lockdown!

It's been over a year since our part of the country was in lockdown, but that has changed.

There is one case of Covid in the Auckland community so we are all locked down for three days and Auckland for a week.

For me, that means....no changes to my extravagant life style (as she tosses her hair back and smiles coyly--LOL), like last time. Of course, we are only the size of small sections of most countries, so that makes it very much easier to deal with, but I am grateful that New Zealand is able to handle things well.

We had planned a trip to the Auckland area in a couple of weeks, but that is off for now. Hubby has 'Plan B' (he must have been a boy scout because he's always prepared!), so I'm sure we will find some place to visit when we are allowed.

Let's hope we can be rid of this plague soon.

I'm OK

I just wanted to let my blog friends know that I am OK from the virus.
There are only 4 cases in Taranaki, the district where I live, and I live quite rural.
The Prime Minister has shut down all non-essential businesses for 4 weeks starting Wednesday.
I have been self- isolating all this time, which is easy because I am a hermit by nature!

You are all in my prayers.

This, too, shall pass. (That's not scriptural, but it's fitting!)
