Pemberton Corner and area

We came across the following two signs close together and, of course, I was immediately interested in why they were there.

It seems that six Pemberton brothers were the first to settle the Pemberton-Rangiwahia area in 1885 and in seven years it went from a campsite to a town center, with lumber being the main source of income. It slowly became a ghost town, with the Post Office closing in 1924.

This old dairy building was a few meters down the road.
